• The town of Bethlehem in Judea.A cold night with snowfall. There were some shepherds protecting the sheep in the fields around that place. An angel appeared to them. They were frightened. The angel said to them:

“Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is the messiah, the Lord”(Luke 2:10-11)

Suddenly, they had another vision. A host of angels from heaven appeared along with that angel. They praised God and sang:

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” (Luke 2:14).

With great joy the shepherds rushed to Bethlehem. Do you know what they saw there? A manger  with a cradle made of grass in it. In that grassy cradle, they saw a pretty child. Mary and Joseph were standing close by. The shepherds went and communicated
this event to other people too.

Who is this child?Jesus the Saviour whom God had promised. Jesus was born 2000 years ago.Christmas is the birthday of Jesus.
We celebrate it on 25 th December.

Do you know why Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem? There was an order of the Roman emperor to enlist
the names of all the people in the empire in their own native places. Accordingly Joseph had gone with his pregnant wife Mary to Bethlehem. They went in search of a room to spend the night. But, they did not get it as it was a very busy day. Everybody, who
came there, wanted rooms. Mary was very tired after the long journey. At last they had to stay in a manger. That night Jesus was
born. Baby Jesus did not have a bed to lie down nor a good cloth to be covered with. Hence Mary wrapped him in bands of
cloth and let him rest in the grassy cradle.

On Christmas day, we make cribs in order to commemorate the birth of Jesus in the manger.

Jesus the Saviour was born in the a manger in Bethlehem.

In great humility, Jesus the saviour was born in the manger. Let us live humbly like Jesus.

    Let us sing

    Stars all bright are beaming

    From the skies above,
    Nature's face all gleaming,
    Shines with heaven's own love.
    Wake and sing, good Christians,
    On this birthday morn,
    Heaven and earth are telling
    God for man is born.

    Let us pray

O dear baby Jesus, born in the manger,

come and be born in my heart.

    Write repeatedly with colours.

Glory to God in the highest.

    Let us imitate

Just like the angels who praised God with their hymns,

let us praise God with small chants.

Let us adorn the bed of
    baby Jesus with flowers.

"My dear baby Jesus, I love you". When you say this
chant each time, give colour to the
    flowers on the bed.
